James was born January 16, 1842 in Washington Co., PA, and died August 30, 1930 in Washington Co, PA. He married (1) Anne about 1865. Anne was born about 1843 in Ohio, and died in Washington Co, PA. He married (2) Hannah about 1874 and (3) Margaret about 1881. Margaret was born Jan 1847 in PA, and died 1905 in Washington Co, PA. He married (4) Susan Allen February 28, 1907 in PA. Susan was born July 14, 1853 in PA and was a sister of Lizzie Allen McCartney (Anne Pearl's mother).

4.1 Elizabeth M. [daughter of James D.] was born about 1866.
4.2 Sarah [daughter of James D.] was born about 1868. Sarah was listed in the 1870 census (age 2), but not the 1880 census. A Sarah was listed though in the 1880 census, with her grandparents David and Margaret McCartney, and listed as a grandaughter, age-12.
4.3 James BM [son of James D.] was born about 1869. Probably died young as he was only listed once in the 1880 census-age 11.

Children from wife #3-Margaret:

4.5 Thomas [son of James D.] was born September 1882. In October 1907, Thomas accidently shot himself and died of his wounds.
