7.0 Hannah Catherine McCartney (December 13, 1848 - August 27, 1931)


Hannah was born December 13, 1848 in Washington Co., PA, and died August 27, 1931 at home, Eighty Four, R.D. 1, Washington Co., PA. She was buried at Fairview Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Thomas Station, Washington Co., PA. She married John Black McCartney about 1865 in Washington Co., PA, son of John McCartney and Polly. Hannah's husband, John B. was born 1836 in VA, died March 5, 1922 in Washington Co., PA, and is buried with wife Hannah. The 1900 and 1910 census state Hannah was the mother of 14 children, of which 9 were living.

John Black McCartney was a veteran of the Civil War having served in Company G 22nd PA Volunteers, Lafayette Calvary, commanded by Capt. Spear. This was the same Company that brother-in-laws Ishamel and Enoch later served. John was mustered in with brother George on October 22,1862 and mustered out together October 31, 1865, with Company G 3rd Pro Calvary [22nd PA Calvary and Ringgold Battalion 1861-1865, by Samuel Clark Farrar, pg. 509].
